The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and driven Commercial Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple commercial-scale solar PV and battery storage projects. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while meeting the highest quality and technical standards.
In this role, you will play a key part in managing the delivery of commercial solar PV and battery storage projects, ensuring all installations are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest industry and safety standards. Your responsibilities will span from initial project planning and stakeholder coordination through to overseeing on-site works, quality assurance, and providing aftercare support to clients.:
- Manage full project lifecycle from design handover through to completion and commissioning
- Oversee site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers across multiple commercial sites
- Coordinate civil, electrical, and BESS works throughout the build phase
- Liaise with clients, DNOs, and technical consultants to ensure regulatory and grid compliance
- Work closely with the Design and Operations teams to ensure clear and effective communication regarding system designs, DNO applications, and related technical requirements.
- Ensure all necessary DNO applications, MCS certification, and project documentation are completed
- Maintain strong health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards in line with CDM regulations
- Track and report project performance, risks, and costs to senior stakeholders
- Support contract negotiations and procurement, especially for BESS and energy tech components
- Provide technical input for design feasibility, software modelling, and energy yield forecasts
To succeed in this position, you will need to demonstrate proven leadership ability alongside the technical and organisational skills required to deliver complex commercial solar PV and battery storage projects to the highest standards. The following are essential:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing commercial solar PV and/or battery storage (BESS) projects
- Strong technical understanding of solar and BESS installations, including compliance with UK grid regulations
- Proven experience coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams and managing subcontractors
- Familiarity with DNO application processes (G98/G99), MCS standards, and preparation of project documentation
- Solid knowledge of HSEQ best practices and CDM 2015 regulations
- Formal project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner) required
- Health and safety qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate required
- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
Desirable Skills& Expertise:
- Background in EPC, electrical contracting, or renewable energy consultancy
- Experience with project planning software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, etc.)
- Technical proficiency in PV design software (PV*Sol, SolarEdge Designer, or similar)
